Samaready Outclasses Rivals To Win 2012 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies)

Samaready has put the remainder of the Blue Diamond hopefuls to shame, winning the 2012 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) by three lengths at Caulfield racecourse today.

The More Than Ready filly won the race in style ahead of second place-getter Formidable and third place-getter Sweetener.

Samaready, who paid odds of $4.20 at Luxbet to win the 2012 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies), is now expected to move into the top line of betting for the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes on February 25, 2012.

The two-year-old convincingly outdid Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) winner General Rippa to win the race in a fast time of 1 minutes and 3.38 seconds.

Trainer Mick Price said the impressive win put to rest any doubts Samaready could win the 2012 Blue Diamond Stakes.

“Nothing like race day to sort out the blah blah in this game,” he said. “She found that extra gear, certainly it points very nicely to a nice 1200 metres from her.”

Price was pleased with Samaready’s fast race time, compared to the slower performance from the colts and geldings.

“There (was) probably six colts to cross the line within a length of each other and I don’t think they’re six champions,” Price said smugly.

“It’s not so much how they run but it’s how they’re doing it at the end of the journey.

“There should be some improvement (from Samaready) from today.”

Jockey Craig Newitt rode Samaready to victory in the 2012 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies).

“The amount this filly has improved since her first preparation is incredible,” Newitt said.

“All she wants to do this preparation is relax in travel.

“Come blue diamond stakes day she’ll be 110%.”

Newitt made it very clear he would not be switching mounts on Blue Diamond Stakes Day.

“(I’m) very happy where I am,” he said.

“I haven’t ridden very many good 2 year olds but she’s the best of them.”
