Rosehill Results – Rain Affair Posts Win In Expressway Stakes 2012

Rain Affair has continued to add to his impressive race record by winning the Group 2 Expressway Stakes at Rosehill racecourse today February 11, 2012.

The Commands gelding has now won an unbelievable nine from ten race starts and earned close to $450,000 in prize money.

Trainer Joe Pride is planning to dodge Black Caviar and run Rain Affair next in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes at Rosehill on February 25, 2012.

“I think it will suit him, it’s all about getting this horse fit,” Pride said.

“And then after that we might get a little bit more adventurous.”

The four-year-old will then take on the big guns in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on March 10, 2012.

“I’ve ruled out the Oakleigh Plate,” Pride said.

“(We’ll) probably run him in the Apollo (Stakes) and then to Melbourne for the Newmarket (Handicap).”

The trainer was overjoyed with Rain Affair’s performance in the 2012 Expressway Stakes.

“Super performance and I knew he’d improved a bit from his first-up run,” he said.

“I think he’s going to be a better race horse next preparation.”

Corey Brown was aboard Rain Affair for his latest win in today’s Expressway Stakes.

“He was the best he’s ever been today,” Brown said.

“Today just showed he’s got a big career ahead of him.”

The jockey is confident Rain Affair will be hard to beat in the Newmarket Handicap.

“I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, I think the tempo he can set he’ll have them struggling early on,” he said.
