Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Psychologist has won the 2012 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes by a length and a half at Caulfield racecourse today.
The four-year-old mare flew down the outside to snare the 2012 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes win from second place-getter Slow The Flow and thirs place-getter Let’s Be Happy.
Psychologist has now won four of her 16 race starts and has earned more than $275,000 in prize money.
Trainer Tony Vasil was pleased with the ride from jockey Craig Newitt.
“I just thought he’s a different style of rider than who’s been riding her,” Vasil said.
“We all know he’s quite vigorous and a left hand rider and maybe it made a difference.
“She’s had a few niggling issues along the way that we’ve had to help her through but bottom line she can gallop.
“She’s consolidated herself as a broodmare in the future but she’s a fare way away from going to a stallion next spring.”
Newitt felt Psychologist was in a class of his own in today’s 2012 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes.
“She was too good,” he said.
“She had the race won pretty much straight after straightening.”
