This Saturday the bumper nine-race CF Orr Stakes Day program is set to come to a close with the 2012 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes, the mares-only clash attracting a final field of 13.
Due to jump at 5:50pm, the $125,000 Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) has in the past been won by some classy horses including Peter Snowden’s subsequent Group 1 winning Lonhro mare Beaded.
In the Luxbet markets for this year’s edition of the Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes another daughter of Lonhro is currently installed as the favourite, five-year-old Miss Octopussy.
Tom Hughes’ consistent mare was last seen finishing an eye-catching fourth to Canali when she went up against open company in the Victoria Cup (1100m) at Caulfield on December 3.
