Youthful Jack Tops Tonight’s Launceston Race Odds

Tonight Tasmania’s Launceston Racecourse will come to life for a special twilight meeting headlined by the 2012 Stakes where Adam Trinder’s smart six-year-old Youthful Jack is set to jump the favourite.

Scheduled as Race 6 at 8:48pm (TAS time), the $90,000 Listed Stakes (1200m) field features 14 sprinters.

The favourite is in barrier seven, Youthful Jack coming off a third to Dystopia over 1300m at Warwick Farm on January 7 and now paying $3.30 at Luxbet for their Tassie debut tonight.

They have won three times over 1200m and broke a lengthy 31-month winning drought at Wyong back in December.

In a relatively open Launceston Race 6 betting market for the punters, Luxbet have three other Stakes acceptors at single figures to win.

Second favourite at $6 is the Jarrod Mclean-trained Nicastro in barrier nine.

The Testa Rossa five-year-old hasn’t seen the inside of a winners’ stall since June last year when they relished the wet conditions at their home Warrnambool track to take out the Winter Championship (1300m).

While the current Launceston track rating Dead (4) looks a little firm for their liking, coming back to the 1200m should suit.

Veteran nine-year-old Motspur having their 48th career start and local Tough Speed filly Buzzing Along who won over the track and distance two starts back, drawn in barrier six and one respectively, follow as the $7 co-third picks at Luxbet.

Other longer-priced chances that could prove the value pick at Luxbet include Troy Blacker’s evergreen seven-year-old Dream Pedlar ($13 Luxbet) coming off a third to Geegees Blackflash in the Listed Kevin Sharkie Stakes over the Hobart mile in December, resuming David & Scott Brunton-trained gelding Lock It In Eddie ($14 Luxbet) and their emerging stablemate Getitdone ($12 Luxbet) out for their fourth win from five stars this summer.

At surprisingly juicy odds and definitely worth a look in for the Place Bet is Palzago who pays $31 to win through Luxbet.

Jumping from barrier three the Royston Carr-trained six-year-old won first-up at the track and distance on January 18 beating home a number of their rivals tonight including Getitdone.

See below for the full Stakes odds, then head to Luxbet to back your favouites at the best price and light up your Wednesday night!
