Superlative sprinter Black Caviar is set to be at unbackably short odds this Friday night as she faces a diminutive field of just six rivals upon her return to the turf under the lights at Moonee Valley in the Australia Stakes 2012.

The race Black Caviar fans have been waiting for is set to run as Moonee Valley Race 4 at 8:15pm (VIC time) on Friday evening, the $200,000 Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) attracting a final field of only seven horses.
Winner of the Australia Stakes back in 2010, Peter Moody’s Bel Esprit mare has gone on to win all 11 of her starts since bringing her flawless career record to 16 from 16 for over $4.38 million in prize money to date.
With notable non-acceptors including Robert Smerdon’s Crown Oaks winner Mosheen and Richard Jolly’s consistent South Australian sprinter Stirling Grove, Black Caviar’s task of posting win number 17 has become even more of a breeze on paper.
Drawn on the rails in barrier one, Black Caviar will again be ridden by regular jockey Luke Nolen in the 2012 Australia Stakes and Moody is confident she will come up with the goods again.
“Everything’s going well with her and she’s pretty much where we want her at this stage of her prep,” Moody said this week.
Friday night will be Black Caviar’s fifth appearance at Moonee Valley, her most recent being a blistering six length victory over stablemate Doubtful Jack in the Group 2 Schweppes Stakes (1200m) back on October 22.
Doubtful Jack will again be among Black Caviar’s rivals in the Australia Stakes, but bookies are likely to have all six of undefeated queen’s rivals at triple figures.
