Cambiaso is one of 11 colts and geldings that will be lining up for the Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) at Caulfield this Thursday January 26, 2012.
The two-year-old will be going into the race with a win under his belt after claiming victory in the Listed Superracing Stakes at Flemington on debut last October.
The More Than Ready colt was purchased from the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2011 for $300,000 and has since won $60,000 in prize money at his only start.
Trainer Danny O’Brien believes the horses will be competitive in this week’s 2012 Blue Diamond Preview, as well as the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes.
“Cambiaso is in great shape,” O’Brien said.
“He is certainly a horse we think will be in the mix in the Blue Diamond.
“He’s a very casual sort of colt, he only does what he has to at home and I’ll be really guided by what he does on Thursday but he’s in fantastic condition.
“He spent most of the spring down at Barwon Heads and he’s had a nice build up.
“I’d be expecting him to run really well on Thursday.”
Cambiaso will be joined in the 2012 Blue Diamond Preview by Repousser, who is the only other runner who has won a race.
Repousser won on debut in the Chandler McLeod Plate at Moonee Valley racecourse on December 31st last year.
The Choisir gelding was purchased for $52,500 as a yearling and has already won more than $31,000 in prize money.
Andree Roo Hoo and Timely Truce are also included in the 2012 Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) field.
