Betting for the 2018 Group 1 $700,000 Altus...
There has been little action in the 2012 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds over the past few days with David Pfieffer’s Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes winner Safusa sitting tight at the top of the markets, but one notable move is the winding price of Easy Running.
Just two horses in the capacity 16-starter, 5-emergency field for the $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) have firmed in the Luxbet markets this week, Subarc and Easy Running.
Chris Waller’s consistent Sydney raider Subarc has been backed in from $8 to $7 having drawn nicely mid-field in barrier seven with Nash Rawiller engaged.
But the genuine Magic Millions Guineas betting market mover has been Desleigh Forster’s Brisbane galloper Easy Running.
The Easy Rocking gelding put their claims on show when they ran a brave second to fellow MM Guineas hopeful Biggles ($10 Luxbet) in the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm on December 17.
It was an excellent effort by the gallant runner-up, Easy Running overcoming barrier 17 of 17 while the winner Biggles enjoyed an easy run from gate three.
Easy Running didn’t finish top three next start, but they again produced an eye-catching late run home to come within two lengths of another Magic Millions Guineas rival Punch On ($8 Luxbet) in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) at Doomben on New Year’s Eve.
Having drawn a much nicer gate four in the Magic Millions Guineas barriers, punters have continued to come for Easy Running to win on the weekend, the horse backed in from $12 to $8.50 through Luxbet.
Easy Running is due to be ridden by Damien Browne for their Magic Millions assignment, Browne aboard for the Gold Edition second but Rick McMahon having taken over duties for the Vo Rogue run as Brown served a suspension.
McMahon is on standby to ride third emergency State Of Wealth in the MM Guineas in the rare case three of the confirmed starters withdraw before jump time, 3:25pm (QLD) on Saturday.
One race earlier Browne and McMahon are both have rides in the day’s headline event, the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m).
Aside from Safusa, who will come into barrier one if emergencies don’t get a run, Happy Hussy is the next shortest-priced Magic Millions Guineas hopeful paying $5 at Luxbet.
Drawn slightly wide in gate 13, into 10 with reserves out, David Payne’s Hussonet filly seeks her third win on the trot following narrow victories at Wyong and Rosehill over 1350 metres and 400 metres respectively last month.
