David Pfieffer’s smart Elusive Quality gelding Safusa looks a good thing to take out the Wyong – Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO double after drawing to perfection in gate two for their assignment in the Magic Millions Guineas 2012 on Saturday.

Safusa saluted for their third career win when putting an easy two lengths on Angel Of Mercy in the Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes (1200m) after overcoming the ‘visitor’s draw’ (12 of 12) last-start on December 22.

They will now be out in force at the Gold Coast on Saturday for the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1200m) as the Luxbet favourite in barrier two.

Looking to emulate their stablemate Graceful Anna who two years ago won both the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes and the Gold Coast equivalent, the Magic Millions then known as the MM 3YO Trophy, Safusa pays $4 in the latest markets at Luxbet.

Other early favourites in the Magic Millions Guineas odds through Luxbet had mixed results with the gates.

Second elect Happy Hussy ($5 Luxbet) is likely to ease in the markets after David Payne’s last-start Rosehill winner drew barrier 13.

Still, the Hussonet filly has shown she can handle double-digits previously as her New Year’s Eve win over 1400 metres came from gate 11 of 11.

The Chris Waller-trained Subarc, Peter Balzen’s local hero and Vo Rogue Plate winner Punch On, and fourth emergency but equal $8 third pick Angel Of Mercy from the Rosehill stables of Gerald Ryan came up with gates seven, nine and 16 respectively.

Wide barriers haven’t been a major problem in the Magic Millions Guineas, last year’s winner Torio’s Quest having jumped from gate 16 of 16 meaning horses right out are still in with a chance including Craig Williams’ mount Noisy Ocean (barrier 20).

Before Torio’s Quest both Graceful Anna (2010) and Tempest Tost (2009) won the feature from gate 10.

This year the Liam Birchley-trained Pepper Jet ($71 Luxbet) has drawn barrier 10, but it is Happy Hussy that will come into this gate if the five emergencies don’t get a run.
