John O’Shea’s improving Dane Shadow filly Fille Vilaine will get one last shot at securing a start in Saturday week’s Magic Millions Guineas 2012 on the Gold Coast when she races at Warwick Farm on the weekend.

The three-year-old is engaged to face off against a quality field of fellow fillies in Warwick Farm Race 2 tomorrow, the $70,000 Vili’s Bakery Handicap (1400m).
O’Shea is confident that the 1400 metres will suit Fille Vilaine, purchased for $50,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sales, after she won over 1300 metres at Kembla Grange first-up last start on December 17.
Fille Vilaine started three times as a two-year-old, including a run over 1400 metres at Rosehill when a close fourth to Extraceed.
“She ran well over 1400 metres as a two-year-old and it is worth having a shot at it,” O’Shea said.
Fille Vilaine is currently well down the order of entry for the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) sitting 63rd in the ballot for the January 14 showdown.
With Magic Millions qualified prize money of just $17,700, she needs to win tomorrow to move up the entries and have any shot at earning a spot in the capacity 16-starter, five-emergency Magic Millions Guineas field, acceptances for which close on Monday.
First prize for Fille Vilaine’s Warwick Farm assignment tomorrow is $42,000, and if successful she would move up to 26th in the MM Guineas ballot.
While still not assured of a start should this occur, there are a number of horses higher up the entries that are likely non-acceptors including the Gai Waterhouse-trained duo Niagara and Just The Tonic, keeping the Magic Millions dream alive for O’Shea.

She pays $6.50 in the markets for tomorrow’s race, Chris Waller’s Mickelberg leading the betting at $4.60 after their eye-catching second to O’Shea’s Sydney Autumn Carnival-bound filly Sea Siren at Canterbury on Wednesday.
