This Saturday the final lead-up run for two-year-old Magic Millions graduates looking to snare a spot in the 2012 Magic Millions Classic field on January 14 will take to the Gold Coast in Race 1, giving punters a nice early guide to the upcoming Classic.

The shortest-priced of this Saturday’s runners in the futures 2012 Magic Millions Classic odds at Luxbet is Lady Colours.

Rated a $31 chance to take out the MM Classic, the Bruce Hill-trained Red Dazzler filly is a local at the Gold Coast track and will be lining up for her fourth career run this weekend.

After winning on debut at Ipswich back in December on a Heavy (8) track, Lady Colours went on to run a brave fourth to Discreet in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes (1000m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight later before her last-start third to top Magic Millions Classic fancy Amorino ($4.60 Luxbet) in the Summer Super Saver Ticket Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

Beaten less than two lengths by Gerald Ryan’s Amorino last weekend, Lady Colours was gallant in defeat considering she was hampered by a horror barrier 13 of 13 draw.

On Saturday she comes into barrier six and a win will all but confirm her acceptance for the MM Classic when the field is taken on Monday.

Gold Coast rivals for this weekend following Lady Colours in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds are then the Tony McEvoy-trained Little Critter ($35 Luxbet) coming off a fourth in the Wyong MM 2YO Stakes, Stuart Kendrick’s Not A Single Doubt filly Doubtfilly ($61 Luxbet) and Charge A Fortune ($61 Luxbet).

Charge A Fortune was a last minute entry for the Magic Millions Classic this week, the Rex Lipp-trained Charge Forward colt having won on debut over 800 metres at Ipswich back on December 23.

While hopeful of a good showing on Saturday and a start in the MM Classic, Lipp believes Charge A Fortune will be at their peak during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival later in the year.

“I think he will be a winter carnival horse,” Lipp said.

“He’s a very relaxed colt, that’s the beauty of him.

“He might even get back a little bit in the 900 metres on Saturday, but he’s got gears.

“He’s done terrific since Ipswich.

“He worked beautifully on Tuesday morning; it’s all systems go.”

Rounding out the Magic Millions hopes are then Schweiz ($201), Aronson ($301) and Prefect ($301).

While not on the Magic Millions Classic 2012 path, one of the main dangers for this Saturday’s opening Gold Coast race will be the Patrick Sexton-trained Easy Rocking filly Ain’t She Sweet who vies for her third straight win.

The other last-start winner engaged in the clash is then the John Thompson-trained Headless, who has also drawn ideally in gate three.
