Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
One of two headline races running at Thursday’s Wyong Magic Millions Carnival is the 2011 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes, betting on the three-year-olds’ feature now open at bookmakers around the country.
A 13-horse field is set to face off in the $100,000 Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes (1200m) this year, Luxbet markets led by the Chris Waller-trained Ingham Magic.
Sitting at the top of the Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes odds at a quote of $3.10, Magic Albert filly Ingham Magic is one of the best-tried hopefuls in the field with her nine career starts to date producing three wins and three minor placings.
Purchased for $110,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sales, Ingham Magic was last seen hanging on to win a 1200 metre Benchmark 75 at Randwick on November 5.
For that run she carried 58kg with Glyn Schofield aboard, Ingham Magic to advantage from the drop back to 54kg for Thursday with Schofield retaining the ride and from her nice gate three draw.
Three other three-year-olds are at single figures to win the Wyong Magic Millions Stakes this year with:
- #10 Pink Power ($4.40 Luxbet) – Gary Portelli’s well-bred Not A Single Doubt filly from Jeune mare Kimash, has been thereabouts in her seven starts to date and most recently came within a half-neck of a Rosehill win on December 10
- #2 Safusa ($5.50 Luxbet) – David Pfieffer-trained Elusive Quality gelding was a bargain buy at $45,000 and has shown plenty of potential in their five starts to date, have won two of their last three most recently at Canterbury over 1200 metres on November 30
- #1 More Awesome ($9 Luxbet) – Prepared by Caulfield-based trainer Brendan McCarthy, another cheap buy for just $22,000 at the Magic Millions Sales and has already amassed over $125,000 in prize money, won three of their 10 starts, kicked off career under Dean Wells racing in Tasmania and Morphettville before recent runs in Victoria and Sydney, have been out of form of late but tipped to improve when back up to the 1200 metres
Other notable hopefuls at longer prices in the Luxbet markets include the Gai Waterhouse-trained Rocky Two ($12) fresh off a four month break, Brett Partelle’s local hope Bella Rossie ($16) and Paul Murray’s Pins gelding Pin ‘Em Down ($16).
