This Thursday the Wyong Race Club is set to host their Magic Millions Race Day for 2011, one of the feature showdowns on the seven-race card being the $100,000 Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes (1200m).
With acceptances taken on Tuesday, the 2011 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes field has attracted 13 runners, all but two of which are still among the early entries for the $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) next month.
Likely to open as one of the favourites in the Luxbet markets for Thursday’s showdown is the Chris Waller-trained Ingham Magic.
Well-bred Magic Albert filly from Catbird mare Mi Chiamo, Ingham Magic has won three of her nine career starts to date, most recently running away with a hefty 58kg on her back to take out a fillies Benchmark 75 handicap over 1200 metres at Randwick on November 5.
Fresh off a short break, Ingham Magic drops back to just 54kg on Thursday and has drawn to perfection in barrier three.
“Her form is faultless and she has freshened up well,” Waller said.
Ingham Magic is also the shortest-priced of the Magic Millions 3YO Stakes hopefuls in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas betting markets at Luxbet at a quote of $17.
Along with Ingham Magic another last-start winner engaged in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes field is the David Pfieffer-trained Safusa.
Suffering an early blow out wide in gate 12, the promising Elusive Quality gelding is out for their third win from four starts this season.
Last seen taking out the De Bortoli Wines Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury on November 13, Safusa is due to be ridden by Jay Ford on Thursday and is a $19 chance at Luxbet in the Gold Coast Magic Millions Guineas odds.
Young Warwick Farm-based trainer Pfieffer has confirmed that Safusa needs to run well on Thursday to guarantee a start at the Gold Coast in January.
“He pretty much has to run a good race to warrant a trip to the Gold Coast but I think he’s a progressive horse,” Pfieffer said.
Pfieffer is out for his second win in the Wyong Magic Millions Stakes following the success of his smart mare Graceful Anna, who went on to win the $1 million Gold Coast 3YO Trophy, back in 2009.
A win in the Magic Millions Stakes this week is sure to shorten the price of the winner in the futures all-in markets for the Gold Coast’s lucrative counterpart at Luxbet, making now the time to back your early picks for the new-year feature.
Other notable chances for Thursday, and their prices for the upcoming MM 3YO Guineas, include:
- The Gai Waterhouse-trained Rocky Two ($31) having their first start over a shorter 1200 metre distance
- Gerald Ryan’s unraced Snitzel colt Snitsky ($31)
- Brendan McCarthy’s well-tried Victorian galloper More Awesome ($410) who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Morphettville back in March when under the preparation of Dean Wells
- The Gary Portelli-trained Not A Single Doubt filly Pink Power ($41) due to be ridden by piping hot apprentice hoop Chad Schofield
Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes markets are due to open at Luxbet shortly, so sign up with this Tabcorp-owned and operated online bookie now to get ready for the action.
