Racegoers will get a taste of what next year’s Magic Millions Carnival will have to offer when 2012 Magic Million 2YO Classic hopefuls Snipzu and Sizzling hit the track this Saturday.
The juveniles will contest the first black type races of the Brisbane summer season, with Sizzling running in the 2011 Listed Phelan Ready Stakes and Snipzu contesting the 2011 Listed Calaway Gal at Eagle Farm.
Trainer Kelso Wood will saddle up Sizzling for the first time since he ran second in an 810 metre trial at Doomben Racecourse on December 6.
Wood said the result was exactly what he had hoped for.
“We didn’t want to bust him in the trial,” Wood said.
“He’s a pretty laid back type of horse, but you saw what he did on race day when Chris (Munce) put a couple around him.
“I am very happy with where he’s at right now.”
Sizzling won his only previous start in the Tyquin Speech And Reading Handicap for two-year-olds by an amazing six lengths.
The Snitzel colt, who was a $260,000 purchase from the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale, has already earned more than $30,000 in prize money.
Snippetson filly Snipzu will have her fourth career start at Eagle Farm this weekend.
Snipzu finished second on debut in her only other stakes race in Sydney before winning both her race starts in Brisbane by a combined margin of 10.5 lengths.
The two-year-old filly has already won more than her $80,000 price tag in prize money for her connections and trainer Liam Birchley.
All eyes will be keenly on both Sizzling and Snipzu as they make their way towards a start in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday January 14, 2012.
