146 Juveniles In 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic Nominations

The nominations have been released today for the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on January 14, 2012.

A total of 146 juveniles have been nominated to run in the 1,200 metre race, which is run under set weight conditions.

Included in the 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic nominations is Snipzu, who has already made an impact on the racing scene after her first three starts.

The Snippetson filly has won two of her three career starts and finished second on debut in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick on October 1.

Trained by Liam Birchley at Eagle Farm, Snipzu has already accrued close to $85,000 in prize money.

Snipzu was purchased from the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale in January for a total of $80,000.

Fellow star two-year-old Sizzling is also nominated for the 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Sizzling and Chris Munce

Sizzling is one of 146 two-year-olds nominated for the 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Sizzling has had just one career start when finishing first in the Tyquin Speech and Reading Handicap at Eagle Farm on November 12, 2011, by an incredible six lengths.

The Snitzel colt was purchased for $260,000 and has currently earned $32,000 in prize money.

John Thompson’s Sookie is also headed towards a Magic Millions 2YO Classic 2012 start after she beat Snipzu in an 810 metre trial at Doomben on Tuesday.

The Casino Price filly was the surprise winner of the trail, beating her already proven rival by 1.3 lengths.

All 146 nominees will be looking to follow in the footprints of this year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Karuta Queen.

Karuta Queen has since gone on to enjoy a successful three-year-old career, which included a win in the Group 3 Australia Stakes and a second to Black Caviar in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes during the spring.
