Recognition Stakes 2011 Betting Favourite Fillydelphia Eases

After opening odds-on favourite to score her third win on the trot, Robert Heathcote’s in-form mare Fillydelphia has eased out into two-dollar-territory for this Saturday’s 2011 Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes at Eagle Farm.

Fillydelphia

Fillydelphia is the short-priced favourite to take out the 2011 Tattersall's Recognition Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday

Last start Bianconi four-year-old Fillydelphia boosted her career record to eight wins from 20 starts with a smart victory in the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1630m) at Doomben.

This Saturday she will seek back-to-back Brissie black-types when she takes on a smart field of gallopers in the $80,000 Listed Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes (1600m).

Drawn in barrier nine of the 14-horse field, Fillydelphia originally opened at an odds-on quote of $1.85 in the Eagle Farm Race 7 odds for Saturday at Luxbet.

She has continued to ease since markets were released, however, and is now out to a far more backable $2.15.

It is a nice price for a horse that has winning form at the track under Heavy (8) conditions in October as the rain begins to fall in Brisbane ahead of the weekend’s racing.

Meanwhile, the Recognition Stakes second elect Carry Me Bluey has been the genuine market mover in the past few hours.

Punters have gotten behind Norm Hilton’s Toowoomba galloper who is drawn one inside the favourite with gate eight, and who will meet Fillydelphia an advantageous four kilos better in the weights.

Four-year-old Carry Me Bluey was last seen winning a 1350 metre handicap at Doomben two weeks ago and has won their only start over the mile previously back in September this year.

No other runner is under $10 in the current Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes odds with the next-best fancied being Fillydelphia’s stablemate Humma ($10 Luxbet), Liam Birchley’s 57.5kg topweight Pepperwood ($11 Luxbet) and John Thompson’s Sydney visitor Wonderful Lass ($12 Luxbet).
