News - Betting - Race Previews - Summer Racing
18 November 2011

The opening Group race of Railway Stakes Day this Saturday at Ascot Racecourse is the 2011 WA Guineas, and having done the form on this three-year-olds’ showdown the Races.com.au believe the pronounced favourite Ron’s Call is the definite best bet to make.

The Races.com.au team believe Ron’s Call is the horse to beat in the WA Guineas so back them at Luxbet now before their price firms further!

Of the 13 remaining gallopers engaged to face off in the $350,000 Group 2 Sky Racing WA Guineas (1600m) when Ascot Race 7 jumps at 3:05pm (local time) on Saturday it is the ultra-consistent Simon Miller-trained Ron’s Call who is dominating the pre-race talk and markets.

A winner of four of their five career starts Magic Albert gelding Ron’s Call hasn’t suffered defeat since their fourth on debut at Belmont Park back in May.

As a three-year-old they have been simply flawless racing away to win four straight by a collective nine and a half lengths, the last of which was their first stakes success.

Ron’s Call was in a class of their own when they cruised to an emphatic four length win in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on November 5 when defeating fellow WA Guineas rivals including Shining Knight, Fort Courage and King Saul.

Wearing the No. 1 saddlecloth Ron’s Call really is the No. 1 horse in this field and Races.com.au have them rated special to become the WA Guineas 2011 winner.

WA Guineas 2011 Tips – Ascot Race 7 Tips

1st: Ron’s Call – $2.40 Luxbet

Have been the best-backed runner in the Guineas with punters crunching them in from $2.60 to $2.40 at Luxbet. There is little to suggest they won’t easily account for this field, they are right on track to claim their fifth straight. There 80% Win Rate is far superior to any of their rivals here.

2nd: #9 Red Hot Sax – $21 Luxbet

Juicy, juicy price on this pick that will add huge value to the WA Guineas Exacta. We know there are some better credentialed runners at much shorter odds, but having done the form there is a lot to like about this filly. Ran second in the WA Champion Fillies Stakes over this track and distance last Saturday, boast a strong Win Rate of 50% and an excellent Place Rate of 87.50%, one of only three in this race who have been to the mile and have three wins and three seconds form six starts at Ascot.

3rd:  #4 Shining Knight – $5.50 Luxbet

There last-start effort was good when second to Ron’s Call in the Fairetha and should improve again going up to the mile, should also get a nice run on the inside of the favourite. Last year’s WA Guineas winner Playing God ran second in the Fairetha Stakes in the lead-up so the form is right. Also have the support of their talented hoop William Pike.

4th: #11 Almachino – $17 Luxbet

Keep drifting in the markets out from $13 to $17, and we aren’t really sure why when they tick plenty of boxes. Prepared by last year’s winning trainer Neville Parnham, have form at the track and distance having run third in the WA Champion Fillies Stakes last Saturday, also boast the highest Place Rate of the field with 90%.
