WA Guineas 2011 Field Down to 13 – Odds Update

An early scratching has seen the 2011 WA Guineas field for Saturday reduced to 13 runners, Pattie Me Lass withdrawn from the three-year-olds’ feature.

[waguineasodds]

Dennis Ramsay’s Lords A Leaping filly Pattie Me Lass was disappointing last Saturday when finishing second last in the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m).

Despite being accepted for the $350,000 Group 2 Sky Racing WA Guineas (1600m) when the final field was released on Monday, connections have since made the decision to bypass the race.

Pattie Me Lass was drawn in barrier 11 meaning Simon Miller’s Not A Single Doubt Single Spice, WA Champion Fillies Stakes third placegetter Almachino and Kerrin McEvoy’s mount Independent Mak will all move in one gate now jumping from barriers 12, 11 and 13 respectively.

Ron’s Call remains the WA Guineas betting favourite at $2.50 through Luxbet, the Simon Miller-trained Magic Albert gelding coming off a blistering four length win in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m).

Two of the 12 other WA Guineas hopes are at single figures with Trevor Andrew’s Belgravia Stakes winner King Saul ($3.50) and the Grant Williams-trained Fairetha Stakes second placegetter Shining Knight ($5.50).

They are followed in the Luxbet markets by the Almachino ($13) who is one of three WA Guineas chances for Neville Parnham, Flying Pegasus gelding First Flight ($17) and WA Champion Fillies Stakes runner-up Red Hot Sax ($17).

See below for the updated 2011 WA Guineas field, the classic to run as one of three Group features on Saturday along with the $1 million Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) and the $500,000 Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m).
