Parnham Has Three In 2011 WA Guineas Final Field

The 2011 WA Guineas will be an all local affair this year after the final field was announced today.

The confirmed group includes 14 horses that will battle it out across a 1600m trip at Group 2 level at Ascot this Saturday.

The race is worth $350,000 and in the past has managed to attract proven runners from the east coast looking to pick up some quality black type and good money.

That won’t be the case this year though and the $212,000 first prize and all the minor money will be staying put in Western Australia.

There’s every chance some of it will end up in the pocket of Neville Parnham as well considering he’s managed to assemble a team of three runners.

While not likely to be the market leaders they are handy types with a consistent nature that will put him right in there with a huge chance.

Perhaps is best hope comes in the form of Shady Bet, a rating 70 horse that’s scored barrier four and should get the run of the race.

Fort Courage is his other male entry, a rating 68 that will be wearing blinkers out of gate nine.

He has a filly as well, Almachino a very nice type with a rating 71 but she will need a bit of luck after drawing wide in gate 12.

The top rater in the contest belong to Simon Miller, Ron’s Call is a rating 77 and will jump from gate seven with blinkers and rider Peter Knuckley in the saddle.
