Home, Sweet Home For Playing God In 2011 Railway Stakes

Western Australian star galloper Playing God is back at his home track in Perth in time for the $1 million Railway Stakes this Saturday November 19, 2011.

Playing God, who won the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic at Ascot Racecourse last year, has continually placed amongst Group 1 company throughout the autumn and spring racing carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne.

Trainer Neville Parnham believes the four-year-old has progressed considerably since his 11th place finish in the $3 million Cox Platelast start.

“He’s bloody flying,” Parnham said.

“His work last week was exceptionally good. He wasn’t out to make fast time on Saturday with Bridgestone.

“On Tuesday morning they both worked together and Steven (Parnham) was most impressed.

“He said he couldn’t hold him any slower.

“Back in his home surroundings he is at the top of his game.”

Playing God has been allocated the top weight of 57 kilograms for the 2011 Railway Stakes after Grand Nirvana pulled out of the field.

“It’s disappointing but that’s the way it goes,” Parnham said.

“If he (Grand Nirvana) didn’t nominate we probably would have been 57kg anyway.

“Where he met the minimum- weight horses on a 2.5kg difference there is now a four kilo gap. That does make a bit of difference.

“He is probably carrying 1.5kg more than he should but there is little we can do about that.”

Playing God will go into the 2011 Railway Stakes with six career wins to his name and prize money that equals more than $1 million.
