Upset In 2011 Hilton Hotel Stakes At Flemington

Instinction causes an upset to win the Hilton Hotel Stakes

There’s been a big upset in race four on Emirates stakes day with Instinction getting up to win the Hilton Hotel Stakes at big odds.

He paid a massive $31 best price with online bookmaker Luxbet, a huge result given the quality of the field at the pointy end of proceedings.

Instinction was ridden to perfection by Craig Newitt who managed to save all the ground he needed from gate one.

He had the perfect amount of cover off a tempo that just suited him and the run came exactly when he needed it.

Off the bend it looked as if Amah Rock and Mahisara were going to battle it out after they swung four and five wide to take the lead off the turn.

After getting the run of the race down the inside though Instinction was produced with 200m to go and took the front in a matter of strides.

Mahisara battled on to make him work for it but in a photo Instinction was the best horse was Amah Rock just holding on for third in front of a fast finishing Mental.

This horse had only won a country maiden coming into this race but trainer Mick Price has always had a big opinion of him.

“We really wanted to run him in the Carbine Club Stakes off his maiden,” he said.

Today it was all about riding him from the draw without doing anything fancy.

” We were happy to take a punt and not leave the fence,” he said.

Newitt says jumping from that spot was key to his victory.

“It’s a big advantage, this bloke tends to get back in his races,” he said.

“I knew he’d be strong, was really good.”

Price isn’t going to shy away from a bigger challenge next time out stepping his colt up to the Sandown Guineas next Saturday.

“If you have a look at him and his pedigree he’s bred to get 1600m,” he said.

“In March there’s a race called the Australian Guineas, you never know.”

One things for sure is that if you missed out on the huge odds at Luxbet today you probably won’t be seeing them again for a while on Instinction.

It was a fantastic win and the $31 payout simply spectacular.

This is a perfect example of what you could do if you claim your 4100 free bet with Luxbet now.

$100 at 30 to 1 would have given you a return of $3000! Not bad considering it costs just $25 to claim.
