Real Stolle wins the Maribyrnong Plate for 2-year-olds

Race one on 2011 Emirates Stakes Day is done and dusted with Real Stolle winning the 2011 Maribyrnong Plate with a fantastic effort.

As we pointed out pre-race racing experience counts for plenty in these sort of events and it was Real Stolle that used it to her advantage.

She had run once before when finishing fifth at Caulfield but back to Flemington today and second up she showed them who was boss in tremendous fashion.

She went dead straight from the gates forgetting the movements of most of the field which went across to run up the inside rail.

She was left without cover the whole trip but with 300m to go she was shaken up and inside the final 100m the race as good as over.

Andre Roo Hoo was the best of the pack up the inside running on for second while Magnus Reign held on to run third right on the rail.

It was a good start for John Thompson who is training this filly on behalf of the Patinack team.

They were simply upstaged by Darley in last season’s two year old races and this gets them off to a good start for an improved time of it this season.

Thompson agrees that having had the previous start helped her plenty here.

“She’s got the race experience under her belt,” he said.

“We’ve always had  a bit of an opinion of her.”

He says she was a little lost around the Caulfield bend but in a straight line at Flemington there were no issues.

“Back on to her home track she didn’t shirk the task,” he said.

He’s hoping this is only a sign of what could come from her next year.

“She’s a real two year old type and she’ll only go on from here,” he said.

“She’ll go for a spell now and come back in for the autumn, she’s a nice filly going further.”

The winning rider was Michael Rodd who says he maturity played a key role in getting her to the line.

“She got to the front and normally they wander around and you lose your momentum but she was focussed, mind on the job and won really well,” he said.

Real Stolle was the market mover at Luxbet coming in from an opening price of $34 to pay $17 once they jumped. That’s still a lot more than the $14 paid out by the TAB. Andre Roo Hoo was $3.00 for second and Magnus Reign a nice $5.20 for third.

As you can see these odds are quite spectacular so get a hold of them at Luxbet now.
