Oliver On A Roll Into Melbourne Cup With Race 6 Win

After going down narrowly to Hot Snitzel last start Combat Kitty has bounced back to claim Race 6 at Flemington on 2011 Melbourne Cup Day.

Combat Kitty found plenty of trouble in the run and had to do a lot of work to get clear but once she found the front there was no pegging her back.

The pace was hot early with multiple horses fighting for the lead which gave every horse a chance to run their race on the straight.

After such a quick early tempo the speed horses started to falter at the 300m opening up the contest for those that had run with cover.

They were stretched across the track and all had a shot, with the exception of Combat kitty that was caught behind horses.

Jockey Damien Oliver elected to switch back across the track and sweat on a run through the middle of the pack.

While this was happening Mabsam had improved from dead last on the turn to come on with the widest run of them all.

It hit the lead for an instant before Combat Kitty finally poked her head through and stormed through to take the lead.

Mabsam fought on to the line but Combat Kitty was just too strong storming through for just the second win of its career.

Masbsam run a brilliant second with And Rock coming in third ahead of Princess Layla.

It’s a big confidence booster for Oliver who will be riding Manighar in the 2011 Melbourne Cup

If you fancy him to take out the double you can get a healthy $41 for the import with online bookmaker Luxbet.
