2011 Melbourne Cup Finishing Order

Dunaden tops the 2011 Melbourne Cup finishing order

It was the closest finish in the history of the Melbourne Cup with Dunaden edging out Red Cadeaux by the absolute smallest or margins at the top of the 2011 Melbourne Cup Finishing Order.

It’s the type of result that will leave many people arguing and conspiracy theorists will no doubt have an absolute field day.

Still though, Dunaden is the horse credited with the 2011 Melbourne Cup title and that’s something that now can’t be taken away from jockey Christophe Lemaire, trainer Mikel Delzangles  or any of the connections.

It’s a win that further highlights the value of the Geelong Cup as a form race with Dunaden backing up the Americain path of 2010 and making it a sixth straight placing or win in the Melbourne Cup from a Geelong Cup champion.

Red Cadeaux takes over as the mantle as the unluckiest runner in the history of the Melbourne Cup, his second placing simply couldn’t have been any tighter without it being considered a dead heat.

It’s heartbreak for connections who have brought across the horse which has had arguably the least amount of attention of any other runner.

He was as gallant as he could have been in second spot and has surely earned himself a new legion of fans right across the world.

Lucas Cranach ran a tough third, he was just produced too early and peaked on his run while Americain showed just what a champion he is after coming from an impossible position to just miss out on third in a photo.

No doubt he lost no admirers with that performance, things just didn’t go his way on the day.

In terms of your office sweeps though you’ll need to know the final 2011 Melbourne Cup fishing order which we’ve listed out below.

As you can see there’s a clear dominance in favour of the internationals so you can expect many more of them to be arriving in the future.

The final dividends at online bookmaker Luxbet where the best in the country as you can see below.

Dunaden paid out $9.10 and a massive $3.40 on the place.

Red Cadeaux was worth a huge $14.30 to place, punters missing out on more than $50 where he to win the photo.

Lucas Cranach paid a healthy $4.50 win just ahead of Americain.

The exotics where the best though, they paid out the best of the tote plus an extra 5% on top of that!

That means the quinella returned $244.39, the exacta $399.06, the trifecta $5037.96 and the first four? A huge $23853.64!
