Lloyd Williams On Target For Fourth Melbourne Cup 2011 Win

Lloyd Williams will be looking to win his fourth Melbourne Cup when his horses Mourayan and At First Sight line up for the race tomorrow November 1, 2011.

The Australian businessman and prominent racehorse owner has won the $6 million Melbourne Cup with Just A Dash (1981), What A Nuisance (1985) and Efficient (2007).

Williams is confident about the chances of At First Sight, who finished second to Tanby in the Bendigo Cup last start.

Mourayan

Mourayan is one of two horses out to give Lloyd Williams his fourth Melbourne Cup in 2011

“He’s tracking along well,” Williams said

“That run will really improve him. He had a little setback, but he’s a high-quality horse. I like him.”

Williams is equally upbeat about Mourayan’s chances in the 2011 Melbourne Cup.

Mourayan finished second last Saturday in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes, which is a race that is often used as a telling Melbourne Cup form guide.

Williams labelled Mourayan’s recent trackwork as “very attractive”.

“He has improved a lot. I thought 12 months ago he was a moderate Australian handicapper, but he’s really come on,” he said.

“He won The Bart Cummings with 58kg and drops to 53.5kg in the Cup.”
