Form Reversal Will take Precedence In 2011 Melbourne Cup

Precedence will be looking to break a year-long winning drought when he runs in the 2011 Melbourne Cup this coming Tuesday.

Trainer Bart Cummings is hopeful the 3,200 metre distance of the Melbourne Cup 2011 will be exactly what the six-year-old needs.

“I think he is looking for two miles because he’s certainly no good at a mile-and-a-quarter,” Cummings said.

Cummings is planning to leave the blinkers on Precedence in the hope they make the winning difference in the Melbourne Cup 2011.

“At this stage we will leave them on and see if he goes better over longer ground,” Cummings said.

“He needs further, that’s for sure, and a decent barrier.

“When he goes back he gives them too big a start.”

Precedence finished eighth in last year’s Melbourne Cup.

The Zabeel gelding is presently paying odds of $41 to win the 2011 Melbourne Cup at Luxbet.
