Sincero Can Still Win The 2011 Cox Plate

Sincero will run with blinkers in the Cox Plate 2011

Sincero might come into the 2011 Cox Plate with plenty of runs under his belt and a career we’re all very familiar with, but in many ways he’s still the unknown contender.

Just what Sincero rocks up at Moonee Valley tomorrow will determine whether or not he’s a dominant force or a fading hope in the Cox Plate 2011.

Based on class alone he’s a real threat, a dual Group 1 champion and a horse with an uncanny ability to fight all the way to the line.

He rode a wave of success to the Stradbroke Handicap this year and he looked to be back in the same vein this spring when he won two on the trot.

First was the Tramway and after that it was the Group 1 George Main Stakes.

He appeared to be flying but then in the Epsom Handicap he never fired a shot finishing in 8th.

It was the same story last start as well coming home in 5th more than four lengths off the winner in the Caulfield Stakes.

What this means is one of two things, firstly maybe he can’t handle the 2000m trip or secondly he’s just in desperate need of blinkers.

The blinkers did the job in the Stradbroke after he ran poorly in the QTC Cup and Steven Farley is hoping they’re the magic bullet again.

The big difference between the two event though is obviously that the Stradbroke was over 1400m, this is the 2040m of the Cox Plate.

There’s no doubt he’s a great horse but if he’s not at his absolute prime in any way he simply can’t win the 2011 Cox Plate.

That said, if blinkers really are the difference in this horse we could see the ultimate bounce back at Moonee valley tomorrow.

Luxbet are laying a massive $21 that it won’t happen so if you have faith in Sincero you know where you need to bet.
