More Joyous Wins Tristarc Stakes 2011 – Caulfield Race Results

More Joyous

More Joyous is the Tristarc Stakes 2011 winner

More Joyous has claimed victory the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes in the final Group race on Caulfield Cup Daytoday.

The six-year-old mare had to fight out the finish against Sister Madly, who was unable to hold the lead in the final stages of the race and finished in second.

Response ran on well for third while Goon Serpent finished in fourth position.

The win came after More Joyous had to be re-saddled behind the barriers, which led to a late drift in odds to $1.85 at Luxbet.

“It’s only second up and a few little things went wrong before the race,” a delighted Gai Waterhouse said.

“Nash was a bit sort of flustered.

“Sister Madly had the break on her and it looked like we weren’t going to catch her but her true ability peaked through”

Jockey Nash Rawiller admitted the mare did not feel the same to him as she had done throughout her autumn campaign.

“She did a good job; she’s not going as well as she was normally when I ride her I don’t believe,” Rawiller said.

“She’s getting a bit older.”

More Joyous will now go on to run in the Group 1 Myer Classic on Victoria Derby Day on October 29, 2011.
