Caulfield Cup Day 2011 was as action packed as ever, with all ten races producing brilliant displays of ability.

The biggest race of the day, the 2011 Caulfield Cup, was won by Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas’ Southern Speed.

The four-year-old mare made the most of her barrier draw (3) to win the race ahead of Green Moon and Tullamore.

Despite her win granting her automatic entry into the Melbourne Cup 2011 on November 1, Southern Speed will not be taking her place in the race.

“I don’t think so, no we’ve done our job,” Macdonald said.
