One of the key support races on the Caulfield Cup Day programme this Saturday, October 15, is the 2011 Caulfield Sprint where Peter Snowden’s spruik three-year-old Sepoy will vie for their fourth elite level victory.
Gun Elusive Quality colt Sepoy skyrocketed their value as a future stallion on September 30 when the Blue Diamond – Golden Slipper winning juvenile stepped up against open company and defeated a high-class field of older rivals in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

Sepoy will open favourite in the 2011 Caulfield Sprint markets for Saturday
That was their eighth career win from nine starts, their third as a three-year-old this season, and now Sepoy will return on Saturday for the $200,000 Group 2 Perri Cutten Caulfield Sprint (1100m).
There were 18 horses nominated for the 2011 Caulfield Sprint today, Sepoy the clear top contender and sure-to-be favourite in the pending Luxbet markets.
Snowden has a stranglehold over the Caulfield Sprint 2011 nominations having also entered his ultra-consistent mare Beaded.
The six-year-old daughter of Lonhro, who has only finished out of the money once in her illustrious 22-start career to date, is the 58kg equal top-weight of the Caulfield Sprint entries.
Last seen finishing a close second to Yosei in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 25, Beaded has also been nominated for the mares-only $100,000 Listed The Nivision (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.
Other top elects among the Caulfield Sprint entries include the Robert Heathcote-trained Buffering who is also on 58kg and who comes off a fourth to Sepoy in the Manikato; the Peter Moody-trained duo of Curtana and Mid Summer Music; and the Gary Portelli-trained Platinum Skye who ran fourth to superstar Black Caviar in the Schillaci Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield last Saturday.
The Caulfield Sprint final field and barriers are due for release on Wednesday.
Acceptances for the day’s headline event, the $2.5 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), however, will be taken on Tuesday and published right here at Races.com.au.
