Helmet Leads Caulfield Guineas Betting – Late Odds Update

The Caulfield Guineas betting is heating up with the race due to jump at 3.20pm (AEDT) at Caulfield Racecourse today October 8, 2011.

Money has continued to flow in for Peter Snowden’s Helmet, who is now paying odds of $2.35 after originally opening at $2.50 at Luxbet.

Punters are choosing to put their faith in the Exceed And Excel three-year-old after he won the Caulfield Guineas Prelude by an impressive three and a half lengths.

Helmet along with Chase the Rainbow ($8.50 at Luxbet) are the only two horses in the field to have proven themselves over the 1,600 metre distance in the past.

The previously unlucky Smart Missile is currently second favourite at Luxbet, paying odds of $3.30 in the 2011 Caulfield Guineas betting.

The three-year-old will benefit greatly from his barrier draw of two, which should ensure he is not caught wide like he was in his most recent start in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

Golden Rose winner Manawanui has drifted slightly to third favourite paying odds of $5.50 after originally opening at $5.

The young gelding has proved that he can beat both Helmet and Smart Missile in the past, so these odds appear very generous.

The least wanted horse in the 2011 Caulfield Guineas betting market remains as General Offer, who has not moved from his starting price of $201.

Join Luxbet now and for a limited amount of time only you can be instantly credited with a bonus bet valued up to $500 to use on the 2011 Caulfield Guineas or any other race you choose this spring.
