2011 Herbert Power Stakes Form Guide & Betting Tips

One of the crucial Caulfield Cup lead-up races will take place in Melbourne tomorrow with a crack field of stayers engaged to face off in the Herbert Power Stakes 2011, and below punters will find the leading Herbert Power Stakes form guide analysis and betting tips.

Sixteen horses are engaged for the $200,000 Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) this year with the winner earning a 2011 Caulfield Cup ballot exemption and also set to move up the order of entry for Flemington’s $6.2 million Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday of November.

It is an eclectic mix of Aussie and international gallopers in the 2011 Herbert Power Stakes field, all of which come into the feature on the back of mixed form.

Some horses are backing up just six days after their last race while others including Brian Ellison’s overseas raiders Moyenne Corniche and Saptapadi running under race conditions for the first time in 49 days.

So what does the Herbert Power Stakes 2011 form guide and betting history reveal, and what horses should you back in the Luxbet markets on the Caulfield Guineas Day showdown?

The Races.com.au team have studied everything from the individual Herbert Power Stakes horses’ form to the general historical trends on the race to uncover the smartest bets to place that have the highest chance of winning.

Does easing race favourite Tanby ($2.80 out to $3.20 Luxbet) have a genuine chance of becoming the Herbert Power Stakes winner? What about the imports and their form for this? Read on to find out!

Caulfield Race 3 Betting Form & Stats:

  • #9 Midnight Martini ($13 Luxbet) and #13 Tanby ($3.20 Luxbet) share the highest Win Rate of 50%
  • Both are also last-start winners – Midnight Martini (1800m, Caulfield, 24/09/2011), Tanby (2500m, Moonee Valley, 10/09/2011)
  • The other last-start winners in the Herbert Power field are #1 Bauer (2815m, Haydock Park, 03/09/2011) and #2 Moyenne Corniche (2816m, York, 20/08/2011)
  • The best Place Percentages of the field belong to #13 Tanby (83.33%), #14 Shewan (71.43%), #5 Lucky Eighty Eight (64.71%) and #8 Anudjawun (62.50%)
  • All of these horses are the single-figure chances in the Herbert Power Stakes odds with #13 Tanby ($3.20 Luxbet), #14 Shewan ($5.50 into $4.80), #5 Lucky Eighty Eight ($5 out to $6.50 Luxbet), #8 Anudjawun ($9 Luxbet)
  •  Last year’s Herbert Power Stakes winner Linton jumped from barrier three with Nicholas Hall in the mount; on Saturday #7 Rebel Soldier ($101 Luxbet) has drawn gate three and Hall is booked for race favourite Tanby
  • The only horse to carry more than 54.5kg to a Herbert Power Stakes victory in the past 15 years was Freemason (56.5kg); this makes all of the internationals – #1 Bauer, #2 Moyenne Corniche, #3 Saptapadi on 57kg – and #4 Master O’Reilly (56kg) risky bets to place historically speaking at Luxbet
  • Herbert Power hopefuls to have won at the Track & Distance are $101 roughie and former Caulfield Cup winner #4 Master O’Reilly (4-2-0-0), and 2011 Caulfield Cup hope #10 Lopov (1-1-0-0) who is a $41 chance for Saturday through Luxbet
  • Horses with winning form over the 2400m, which is also the Caulfield Cup distance, are #1 Bauer (5-2-1-0), #4 Master O’Reilly (8-3-1-1), #3 Saptapadi (3-1-0-0), #4 Master O’Reilly (8-3-1-1), #7 Rebel Soldier (2-1-0-0), #10 Lopov (1-1-0-0), #12 My Scotsgrey (2-1-0-0) and #16 Prussian Officer (5-1-1-1)
  • Caulfield winners in the field are #4 Master O’Reilly (12-2-1-0), #9 Midnight Martini (4-1-0-0) and #10 Lopov (3-1-0-1)

Having listened to what the Herbert Power Stakes form guide is telling us, the staff at Races.com.au will be placing their bets on the favourite Tanby in a trifecta with Shewan and Midnight Martini.
