Chris Waller’s in-form import My Kingdom Of Fife has shot up the 2011 Cox Plate odds after a big race win at Randwick over the weekend, the six-year-old saluting for the punters in the $125,000 Group 3 Craven Plate (2000m).

Backing up from a game first-up second to Trusting the Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm last month, on Saturday My Kingdom Of Fife ($1.55F) never hit top gear when they coasted to an emphatic two and a quarter length victory over the Graeme Rogerson-trained Shootoff ($13) while Stephen Farley’s Gazza Guru ($31) added value to the winning Craven Plate trifecta a further two lengths away third.
The weight-for-age win by My Kingdom Of Fife showed Waller the former Queen-owned galloper was worthy of an ambitious spring assignment, the horse to next race in the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 22.
“I know it’s ambitious but we’re all entitled to dream, that’s what this sport is about and he will head to the Cox Plate and give it a crack,” Waller said enthusiastically on Saturday.
Kingmambo gelding My Kingdom Of Fife has had six starts in Australia since joining Waller’s stables at the start of the year, but is yet to race in Melbourne.

This won’t be a problem according to Waller, however, as being from Europe the horse has had experience the Melbourne way of racing.
“He’s raced seven times the left-handed way which will be an advantage,” Waller said.
My Kingdom Of Fife will go into the Cox Plate field this year third-up, which Waller believes will be ideal seeing as they suffered their first defeat down under when a narrow second to Scenic Shot in the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2020m) fourth-up in Brisbane back in May.
“I think his third-up run will be his best,” Waller said.
“In the Doomben Cup he was over the top.”
While the Craven Plate was a dominant performance, Waller has also warned that My Kingdom Of Fife was not yet 100 per cent fit and that he was being prepared to peak on Cox Plate Day.
“He is only 90 per cent fit,” Waller said.
Prior to Saturday’s Craven Plate success My Kingdom Of Fife was sitting as a $26 shot in the 2011 Cox Plate odds at Luxbet.
They have since firmed right in to $13, now occupying the fourth line of Cox Plate betting at an equal price with Rekindled Interest who ran fifth to December Draw in yesterday’s Turnbull Stakes at Flemington, the Anthony Cummings-trained three-year-old Smart Missile who will race in this Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas and the Mark Kavanagh-trained Whobegotyou.
