Form Guide & Betting Tips – The Metropolitan 2011

Here we have put together the best tips and form guide information for the 2011 The Metropolitan, which is due to run as Race 9 at 5.20pm (AEST) today October 1, 2011, at Randwick Racecourse.

#1 Trusting

Form: 20 4-4-2

For first we are tipping Trusting who has won his last two starts of this preparation, with the first being a narrow victory in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes and the second being a dominant 3.8 length victory in the Group 2 Hill Stakes.

While his last two runs were on a good-rated track, Trusting has won his only start on a slow track and has placed three from eight times on a dead track.

The five-year-old has drawn barrier ten for the race and will be partnered by jockey Joao Moreira, who won aboard the entire on both his previous rides.

Trusting has never finished worse than second at this track, but this will be his first attempt at the 2,400 metre distance.

Currently race favourite at Luxbet, Trusting is paying odds of $5 to win the 2011 The Metropolitan.

#2 Hawk Island

Form: 38 10-7-2

For second, we can’t go past Hawk Island, who finished second to Trusting in the Group 2 Hill Stakes last start.

The Hawk Wing gelding has placed twice from five attempts at the 2,400 metre distance and has won three of nine runs at Randwick.

The seven-year-old is well-known for his ability to handle wet tracks, and with The Metropolitan 2011 being the last race of Epsom Handicap Day, the capability to handle a choppy track will give Hawk Island a definite advantage.

Hawk Island is currently paying odds of $8 to win the 2011 The Metropolitan at Luxbet.

#8 Lamasery

Form: 15 9-2-1

For third place we have tipped Lamasery, who has been in brilliant winning form over his past two starts.

The Commands gelding has won both the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes and the Group 3 Colin Stephen Handicap this preparation.

Lamasery proved he was able to win over the 2,400 metre distance of The Metropolitan 2011 last start, despite his breeding stating he should get no more than 1,600 metres.

The five-year-old has won an impressive five from seven races on dead-rated tracks and has placed on one of two slow track attempts.

Lamasery is presently paying $6 at Luxbet to win the 2011 The Metropolitan.
