Darley’s megastar colt Sepoy is dominating the 2011 Danehill Stakes betting markets for this Saturday, but one of Australia’s premier bookmakers is offering an exclusive Sepoy-free market for the Flemington showdown.
Luxbet are offering customers an exclusive Flemington betting special on Saturday Race 4 – the $250,000 Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) – with odds adjusted to reflect a Danehill field without Peter Snowden’s Blue Diamond Stakes – Golden Slipper winner Sepoy.
Arguably one of the best juveniles Australian racing has ever seen, Sepoy showed they were now also the benchmark three-year-old this season with an effortless first-up win in the Vain Stakes.
In the regular Danehill Stakes markets at Luxbet, Sepoy is the $1.20 favourite and will likely firm leading up to race day into nearly an unbackable price.
This is where Luxbet and their exciting betting special comes in.
Punters get the chance to back a different horse in the Danehill Stakes field without fear of losing to Sepoy.
Leading the Danehill Stakes betting special markets are classy fillies Hallowell Belle ($2.10) and Mosheen ($2.40).
While Peter Moody’s smart Starcraft filly Hallowell Belle, runner-up in the Blue Diamond last season, is the without-Sepoy favourite, many racing experts believe it is Golden Slipper runner-up Mosheen that provides the best Danehill Stakes betting value this year.
Connections of Fastnet Rock filly Mosheen are keen to turn the tables on Sepoy after being beaten two lengths by him in the Golden Slipper, Mosheen then under the preparation of Leon Corstens.
New trainer Robert Smerdon is confident she has progressed enough to give Snowden’s star a run for his money in the Danehill having watched her excellent first-up third, beaten just over a length by Satin Shoes in the Listed Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 13.
“We’re running into Sepoy this week but that is the path we have plotted,” Smerdon said.
Smerdon isn’t, however, expecting any miracles and knows they will be running for second, but a second by Mosheen is all you need with the special Luxbet offer.
“We’re not going to beat him but you’ve got to run in the races that suit your horse so you can do what you want to do in the big picture,” he said, naming the $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 12 and possibly the $1 million Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington during November’s Melbourne Cup Carnival as the ultimate spring aims for Mosheen.
“I couldn’t be happier with her,” Smerdon said.
Below are the current Luxbet Danehill odds excluding Sepoy.
