Talented sprinting mare Dubleanny will look to continue her love affair with Flemington during the 2011 Melbourne spring racing carnival.
Dubleanny has won nine of her 16 career starts, however she is almost unstoppable at Flemington having won six races from seven, and she has also shown excellent ability when racing down the straight.
Her form at Flemington has been so good that connections of the mare will look to capture two of the biggest sprint races of the spring carnival.
“The fact that she is so deadly at Flemington up the straight is going to be a huge advantage when it comes to races like the Salinger Stakes and the Emirates Classic which would look at this stage to be possible targets for her spring,” said Vinery Stud representative Conor Phelan.
“The way she races is perfect for Flemington, she can settle behind the speed and once she lets down, she can really take off and run an incredible last 400 metres sectional – she’s a very talented mare.”
Dubleanny resumed training last week and is due to trial next week. it is believed that Mick Price and the Vinery Stud team will pick a race for her after the trial.
“Mick Price was very happy with her work and has her down to run a barrier trial on Tuesday week,” Phelan said.
“She went to the paddock in great form and it looks even at this early stage that she’s come back bigger and better.”
Dubleanny will more than likely target races up to 1200m. At her only attempt at running out anything further than six furlongs she finished down the track in the Australasia Stakes at Caulfield.
