Golden Slipper Field Defectors Star in 2011 The Schweppervescence

Kicking off a first-rate day of racing at Rosehill’s Golden Slipper Day 2011 this Saturday is the $125,000 Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) for two-year-olds, many originally on the Slipper path.

While the best juveniles of the season will be facing off in the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), a quality field of 15 starters plus two emergencies are also engaged for the 2011 The Schweppervescence.

The sole emergency in the 2011 Golden Slipper field is the Bart Cummings-trained Do You Think.

Cummings has also chosen to accept the Starcraft colt previously named Ingham for The Schweppervescence in case the last-start Canterbury winner doesn’t gain a start in the Slipper.

Bikini Star out wide in barrier 13 is the other The Schweppervescence acceptor for the Cups King Bart Cummings whose main hope in the Golden Slipper this year is the lightly-raced Salade.

Another trainer with a top Golden Slipper chance that is also represented in Rosehill Race 1 on Saturday is Clarry Conners.

A four-time Golden Slipper winning trainer, Conners’ star filly Satin Shoes came up trumps with barrier two for the Slipper.

In The Schweppervescence Conners lines up one-time Golden Slipper prospect Irish Times, the Nadeem colt coming off a fifth to Uate in the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on March 12.

Another one of the early favourites in the markets for Rosehill Race 1 is the Scott Aspery-trained Flight Of Pegasus coming off a third in the Skyline Stakes and drawn ideally on the rails in barrier one for Saturday.
