Salade Has Shot At Immortality In 2011 Golden Slipper

News - Autumn Racing - Betting - Race Previews
26 March 2011

Never overlook the master with Bart Cummings somehow flying under the radar in the lead up to the 2011 Golden Slipper but he’s announced himself well and truly now with Salade storming to victory in the Pago Pago Stakes.

Golden Archer had the form and had the record going into the race and he had no excuses during the run either with Salade just too fit, too strong and too fresh for the rest of the field.

We’ve been telling you all week to get onto the Golden Slipper early fixed price markets with Luxbet and if you had you would have found Salade at a huge $301 to take out the event.

It’s too late now though with the markets being re-evaluated and the new price likely to be among the top few favourites.

No horse has ever won the Golden Slipper after making their debut the week before the race, in fact the latest any horse has ever had their first run before winning the Group 1 is 31 days.

If any trainer is going to do it though it was always going to be Bart Cummings who has all the talent and quite clearly plenty of guts as well.

With just a couple of barrier trials to go off for form, punters were unsurprisingly cautious about Salade which jumped at around $10 for the Pago Pago Stakes.

It’s probably a fair starting price for him again in the Golden Slipper but we’ll leave that to the bookies to decide so make sure you grab the odds as soon as they are released with the 2011 Golden Slipper Field & Odds comparison.

It will force many punters to re-evaluate their thoughts on the Pago Pago Stakes as a lead up event with many usually saying it’s for the lesser quality horses and will leave them too tired.

Neither of those apply in this case with a horse who simply hasn’t had a chance to prove himself until now and with only the single run in his career you know for a fact tiredness will not be an issue.

If anything you can expect Cummings to have Salade running even better come the Golden Slipper where providing he pulls up ok he is a certain starter.

Corey Brown will again be the jockey and will be no doubt be extremely excited at making Golden Slipper history come April 2nd.

Cummings has had a relatively quiet Autumn Carnival but that would change so very quickly if he were to re-write the Golden Slipper history books with a Salade win at Rosehill gardens.

Make sure you follow  the progress and if there ever was a time to use your $400 free bet from Luxbet it has to be now.

Jump onto Luxbet and register a new account with the code BONUS400 to claim your free bet and use it to be part of history aboard Salade next Saturday in the 2011 Golden Slipper.
