A capacity field of sixteen fillies will line up...
The first Group race on today’s bumper Rosehill Guineas Day programme is Race 2 the $175,000 Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) and here the Races.com.au team have the late mail betting tip for the final colts and geldings’ Golden Slipper lead-up.
Due to jump at 12:50pm (AEDST), the 2011 Pago Pago Stakes field and betting is currently lead by Peter Moody’s super consistent colt Golden Archer.
A winner of five of their six starts to date, Golden Archer is the clear $2.25 favourite in the Pago Pago Stakes odds at Luxbet having drifted out slightly from his quote of $2.20 yesterday.
But the Races.com.au team are tipping an upset and fancy #2 You’re Canny to score victory in Rosehill Race 2 today at a nice price through Luxbet.
Golden Archer may have the consistency and form, but the level of competition he has defeated of late has been below the standard of this field.
Meanwhile, Canny Lad two-year-old You’re Canny is fresh off a 1 ½ length victory in the Listed Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at Canberra where one-time Slipper favourite, the previously unbeaten filly Karuta Queen was left in his wake.
In the Black Opal You’re Canny jumped from barrier nine, the same gate he is allocated in the Pago Pago Stakes this afternoon so a wider barrier should present no issue to this upcoming star.
There is also pressure taken off You’re Canny who is not nominated for the 2011 Golden Slipper, trainer Gratz Vella having named the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 9 as the geldings’ main autumn aim.
The current Rosehill Track Rating of Dead should also little issue to You’re Canny who has won one of his two starts on Dead ground and also showed he could handle Slow to Heavy going win a Randwick barrier trail last year.
Pago Pago Stakes odds at Luxbet for You’re Canny have drifted out from $5.50 to $6 recently, making now the ideal time to place your bets!
