Now that Black Caviar has extended her unbeaten win tally to 11, she will now set her sights on the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes at Randwick Racecourse on April 9, 2011.
Before tonight’s performance in the 2011 William Reid Stakes, Peter Moody was waiting to see how his superstar mare performed before he made a definite decision on where to send her next.
“I targeted six races at the start of the autumn with Black Caviar, but if I run her Friday night (in the William Reid Stakes) and she suggests to me she has come to the end of it, I’ll put her in the paddock,” Moody said.
However, after winning the 2011 William Reid Stakes in stunning style, and without showing any sign of weariness, the Bel Esprit mare is sure to appear in the $500,000 T.J. Smith Stakes.
“If she comes through (the William Reid Stakes) well, then she goes to Sydney where the main consideration is the T. J. Smith Stakes and everything after that is only probable,” Moody said.
Those probable runs are currently scheduled during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival in May.
“The two question marks are whether I go all the way to the Doomben 10,000 for her sixth run or if I scrap Brisbane altogether and run her in the All Aged Stakes, which is unlikely,” Moody said.
If Black Caviar does make an appearance in Brisbane, her first task will be the Group 1 BTC Cup at Doomben Racecourse on May 14th.
