Today’s Horse Racing – Thursday March 24, 2011

Before this week’s Group 1 racing action kicks off on Friday night with the 2011 William Reid Stakes where the mighty Black Caviar is set to win her 11th straight, there are four TAB meetings on the Thursday horse racing card to enjoy a punt on this afternoon.

Tracks in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia all have quality line-ups taking place today, while the Mackay raceday in Queensland has been postponed due to the state of the track.

Best race taking place today will be Albury Race 6 – the $60,000 Enpower Solutions City Handicap (1400m) at 4:50pm (AEDST) so make sure you check out the betting odds on this race now at Luxbet to get in on the action.

Luxbet have the guaranteed best markets for all of today’s showdowns as well as the upcoming Group races this weekend.

Horse Racing Today

  • Bendigo (VIC)Race 1 jumps at 1:00pm (AEDST) – Bet now at Luxbet

Bendigo Racecourse in Victoria will be home to today’s opening race meet, the seven-event programme due to get underway at 1:00pm (AEDST) with Race 1 – the $15,000 Carlton Draught Back at Bendigo Maiden Plate (1000m).

A top mile showdown brings things to a close with Race 7 – the $22,500 Villawood Properties Country Showcase 0 – 68 Handicap (1600m) jumping at 4:40pm (AEDST) and #1 Little Gaz on the rails and seeking their third straight looks hard to beat despite their hefty topweight of 59kg.

  • Wyong (NSW)Race 1 jumps at 1:20pm (AEDST) – Bet now at Luxbet

The first of two TAB meets running in New South Wales today is the eight-race card at Wyong that will kick off at 1:20pm (AEDST) with Race 1 – the $16,000 Daiken Australia Maiden Plate (1100m) and to break their maiden status after running third on debut last start we fancy #9 Live And Dream for trainer Gerald Ryan.

Wyong Race 5 – the $16,000 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Hyper Inverter Class 1 Handicap (1600m) at 3:40pm (AEDST) is another beauty and to win we are tipping last-start winner #8 Calciata with the inside running from barrier one.

  • Albury (NSW) Race 1 jumps at 1:45pm (AEDST) – Bet now at Luxbet

Albury in country New South Wales has a quality seven-race line-up on the card for today, things there due to get underway at 1:45pm (AEDST) with the $10,000 CPE Electrical & Communications Maiden Plate (1400m).

As mentioned above Albury Race 6 is the richest race this Thursday, with the Brian Cox-trained Berringama the current favourite to win but we are tipping an upset with #1 Voice Commander coming off a game fourth in the Listed The Tradies National Sprint (1400m) at Canberra.

  • Pinjarra (WA)Race 1 jumps at 2:34pm (AEDST) – Bet now at Luxbet

Later this afternoon WA’s Pinjarra Racetrack will be host to a bumper 10-event programme that kicks off at 2:34pm (AEDST) with the $10,000 Programmed Property Services Maiden (1000m).

Pinjarra Race 9 is shaping up as a cracker with the $12,000 Mandurah Hyundai Handicap (1000m) jumping at 7:40pm (AEDST) and of the sprinters we have our money on #8 The Puzzler coming off a win at this track and distance in February.
