Hay List Heads 2011 Challenge Stakes Field – Warwick Farm

The 2011 Challenge Stakes Field is slightly down on numbers this year but as always in a 1000m sprint the action will be extremely exciting at Warwick farm Racecourse this Sunday March 27th.

Hay List leads the seven horse field and will charge into the $175,000 Group 2 as the top rated runner by a fair margin.

If you haven’t followed his career the five-year-old made an incredible start to his career winning his first eight races.

His overall record sits at 12 wins from 16 starts and only twice has he finished worse than second.

Black Caviar has had his measure recently but with her out of the field and all reports confirming he’s recovered from shoulder soreness, this gelding will be extremely tough to beat.

Master Harry

Master Harry could upset the Challenge Stakes favourite.

His biggest challenge may yet still come from within the Peter Moody stables though with Master Harry hitting tremendous form.

The three year old colt was an unexpected winner of his debut race back in March 2010 but ran poorly in his sole spring contest.

This preparation he debuted with a second placing against four at Moonee Valley before clicking into gear and winning his last two against good quality horses.

Hay List is a big step up in class but he is 2.5kgs better off in weight, however it must be noted he’s also an acceptor for Moonee Valley this Friday night.

However the race pans out it’s going to be a fantastic contest with the threat of rain an ever present consideration.
