Morphettville Final Field & Barrier Draw – 2011 Australasian Oaks

The Group 1 Australasian Oaks is beginning to swing into action for the race this Saturday March 26, 2011, at Morphettville Racecourse, with the final field and barrier draw being released today.

The 2,008 metre Australasian Oaks is open to three-year-old fillies only and is worth $350,000 in prize money.

15 fillies have accepted for the 2011 Australasian Oaks final field, including Peter Moody’s unbeaten filly Lights Of Heaven.

Lights Of Heaven has won all three of her previous race starts, including the Group 2 Fillies Classic last start at Moonee Valley on March 4, 2011.

The Zabeel filly’s talent resonates her impeccable breeding and she is on track to make it four in a row in the 2011 Australasian Oaks.

If successful, the three-year-old will most certainly contest the 2011 AJC Australian Oaks on April 16, 2011 at Randwick Racecourse.

Lights Of Heaven has drawn barrier six in the 2011 Australasian Oaks and will be ridden by Peter Moody’s star jockey Luke Nolen.

Leon Macdonald and Andrew GluyasSouthern Speed has been confirmed as a starter in the 2011 Australasian Oaks.

The talented young filly has won three of her past five starts and has only dropped out of the placings once in her short career.

The Southern Image filly won the Group 3 Mittys Vanity at Flemington on February 19th and finished second by a nose to Shylight in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Stakes last start.

The classy three-year-old has accrued almost $200,000 in prize moneyacross her previous five starts and will be hoping to add to this with a large pay check in the 2011 Australasian Oaks.

Southern Speed will jump from gate seven in the 2011 Australasian Oaks and will be ridden by regular jockey Clare Lindop.
