2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic – Final Field & Barrier Draw

The $80,000 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic final field and barrier draw has been released for the race that will run as part of Robert Sangster Stakes Day this Saturday March 26, 2011.

The 2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic will run as Race 4 at Morphettville on Saturday and is a quality handicap run over a distance of 1,200 metres.

Neil Dyer’s Hawks Bay is one of the 12 horses that have accepted for the 2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic final field.

Hawks Bay has won seven of his 29 career starts and finished second last start in the Kyneton Cup on November 3, 2010.

This will be the five-year-old Black Hawk gelding’s first start after a four and a half month spell.

Hawks Bay will be attempting the 1,200 metre distance for the first time in over a year, with the gelding more regularly run over stayer’s distances.

The five-year-old has never finished better than fourth over 1,200 metres and will be hoping to improve on that when he steps up for the 2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic this Saturday.

Hawks Bay has drawn barrier seven for the race and will carry the heaviest weight of 57.5 kilograms.

Stuart Gower’s Blahnik is also amongst the 2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic final field.

Blahnik has won eight of his 37 starts and has accrued more than $400,000 in prize money.

The eight-year-old racing veteran has only managed to win one of his five race starts this preparation so far, when he won the Listed Christmas Quality on December 26, 2010.

Blahnik will jump from barrier six in the 2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic final field and will be ridden by jockey Michael Hoppo.

Also included in the 2011 Listed Parmalat Manihi Classic final field are Mark Kavanagh’s Dr Doute’s, Craig Stewart’s Ciro Prince and John Thompson’s Mother’s Milk.
