Whobegotyou Ruled out of Sydney Autumn Carnival – 2011 Doncaster Mile Odds Update

Whobegotyou has been ruled out of the autumn but will be back for the 2011 Cox Plate

Weight-for-age champion Whobegotyou has been ruled out of the remainder of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival in a second blow for trainer Mark Kavanagh following the recent withdrawal of his Melbourne Cup and Australian Cup winner Shocking.

In a major setback for the five-year-old Street Cry gelding, Whobegtoyou is suffering from a mild ligament strain above a hock that has seen an early end to his autumn preparation.

“Unfortunately Whobegotyou is lame and is out until the spring carnival,” Kavanagh said.

Whobegotyou and Shocking are now both in the spelling paddocks to freshen up and recover ahead of a shot at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

During the spring Whobegotyou is set to tackle the 2011 Cox Plate on October 22 at Moonee Valley while Shocking will look for a second Melbourne Cup win on the first Tuesday of November, 2011 at Flemington.

The last-start winner of the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on March 12, Whobegtoyou was heading towards a showdown against Gai Waterhouse’s glamour mare More Joyous in the 2011 Doncaster Mile.

Leading online bookmaker Luxbet had Whobegotyou as the $7 second behind More Joyous in their early markets for the $2 million Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), set to run at Randwick on April 16.

More Joyous further staked her claims to become the 2011 Doncaster Mile winner last Saturday when she won her third Group victory this prep, storming home in the dismal conditions at Rosehill to win the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) by an emphatic three lengths.

Prior to her win in the Canterbury Stakes, More Joyous was the $2.90 favourite in the futures Doncaster Mile betting at Luxbet.

She has now firmed into $2.30.

The other big Doncaster Mile market mover is the Mick Price-trained Aloha.

An impeccably bred daughter of Encosta De Lago, Aloha was the easy 2 ½ length winner of the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) on Saturday at Rosehill, the victory her fifth consecutive success.
