2011 Sunline Stakes – Moonee Valley Nominations

The Group 2 Sunline Stakes will take place at Moonee Valley this Friday night March 25, 2011, and nominations for the $200,000 race have now been released.

The 2011 Sunline Stakes is a 1,600 metre gallop for mares aged four-year-old and upwards and is run under standard weight-for-age conditions.

Included in the 2011 Sunline Stakes nominations is Peter Moody’s Set For Fame, who will be looking for her first win this preparation.

Set For Fame has won five of her 16 starts so far, with the Reset mare posting three of these victories at Group level.

The four-year-old mare finished third in the Listed First4 Stakes at Flemington on March 12, 2011, behind Orbit Express.

Set For Fame will be stepping up to the 1,600 metre distance for the first time since finishing second in the Group 1 Australian Guineas on March 13, 2010.

Also included in the 2011 Sunline Stakes field is Gerald Ryan’s Strawberry Field, who will be attempting to claim her first victory since November, 2009, in the 2011 Sunline Stakes.

Strawberry Field has had no luck in the past year, producing some disappointing finishes.

Last start the five-year-old Encosta De Lago mare finished tenth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill on March 19, 2011.

Lady Lynette

Lady Lynette will resume her autumn campaign in the 2011 Sunline Stakes after being forced out of the Coolmore Classic due to an elevated temperature

Also included in the 2011 Sunline Stakes field is Robert Smerdon’s Lady Lynette, who was forced out of the Coolmore Classic field last Saturday due to an elevated temperature.

Lee Freedman’s Well Rounded, Mark Webb’s Avienus and Darren Weir’s Culminate are also nominated for the 2011 Sunline Stakes field.
