Nominations have been released for the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes that will take place at Morphettville Racecourse this Saturday March 26, 2011.
The Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes is worth $350,000 and is a standard weight-for-age race open to fillies and mares only.
Graceful Anna is one of many high profile nominations for the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes
Included in the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes nominations is David Pfieffer’s Graceful Anna, who will be looking to make amends for her poor performance in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic last start where she finished 14th in a 15 horse field.
The Canny Lad mare has had a brilliant performance this preparation so far, apart from the Coolmore Classic, finishing second in three Group races.
Graceful Anna, who has won six of her 16 career starts and has accrued almost $1 million in prize money, will be looking to post her first win of this preparation in the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes.
Also included in the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes nominations is Miss Gai Flyer, who also put in a disappointing performance in the Coolmore Classic last weekend.
The Flying Spur filly finished 12th in the field, however, has won both of her other Listed races this preparation so far.
The Peter Moody-trained three-year-old will be moving back to her preferred distance of 1,200 metres in the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes after proving she was not suited to the Coolmore Classic’s 1,500 metres.
Do Ra Mi has also been nominated for a start in the 2011 Robert Sangster Stakes after producing a stunning victory in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes ahead of last year’s Crown Oaks winner Brazilian Pulse.
The Savabeel filly displayed lighting speed to swoop down the outside and steal the win away from the favourite by an incredible two and a half lengths.
