Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Peter Snowden has told punters to write-off Sepoy at their own peril after a loss in the Todman Stakes has many seriously doubting his Golden Slipper credentials.
Snowden though said he was happy enough with the run and has little doubt he’ll come out firing in the main event in two weeks time.
Take nothing away from the winner though with an extremely impressive run from Smart Missile snatching the race from Sepoy, it certainly wasn’t handed to him.
The effect on Golden Slipper betting markets was felt instantly with a quick dollar jump for Sepoy and a huge move from $21 into $5 for the Todman Stakes Winner.
The wet track and driving rain really seemed to unsettle Sepoy and that’s the reason his odds haven’t blown out by any great margin.
A wet track on race day though and expect to see him drift by at least a point.
He’ll retain heaps of support though as this is the first time he’s failed his backers in his five start career.
In effect what this race has done is probably give more value to punters all round in the 2011 Golden Slipper whether it be for the favourite or one of the new contenders.
The Resiling Stakes was a similar story with Satin Shoes to drift after being claimed for the first time, by Elite Falls in the final 100m.
While many punters have felt a good deal of pain today rest assured the Golden Slipper will provide opportunities to more than recoup any losses.
