Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The 2011 Coolmore Classic winner Aloha will now be aimed at the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes on Golden Slipper Day on April 2, 2011.
Aloha won the 2011 Coolmore Classic in stunning style, putting two and a half lengths on her competition on the line.
The Encosta De Lago mare has now won seven of her past nine starts and has added her first Group 1 victory to her name.
The talented four-year-old mare is currently nominated for the Doncaster Handicap on April 16, 2011.
Before her win in the 2011 Coolmore Classic, Aloha was 48th in the order of entry for the race and had been allocated 51 kilograms.
Aloha’s trainer, Mick Price, was still weighing up whether or not to send his winning mare to the Doncaster Handicap, but has his sights on another Group 1 race.
“(The Doncaster Handicap is) one of the options but the Queen Of The Turf is the other logical option,” Price said.
The Queen Of The Turf Stakes is a 1,500 metre weight-for-age race for fillies and mares aged three-years-old and upwards.
Worth $400,000, the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf is the obvious next-up assignment for Aloha.
A win in the 2011 Queen Of The Turf Stakes would take Aloha’s winning streak to six wins in a row, and would give her nine wins from just 18 starts.
