Rosehill Race 8 Tips – 2011 Sky High Stakes Betting & Odds

One of the final showdowns on the Coolmore Classic Day race-card at Rosehill tomorrow will be the $100,000 Listed Sky High Stakes (1900m) and below the team have the best 2011 Sky High Stakes betting tips and odds.

The 2011 Sky High Stakes is scheduled to run as Rosehill Race 8 tomorrow jumping at 4:50pm (AEDST), one event after the highlight race of the day the 2011 Coolmore Classic is run and won.

Luen Yat Forever

Luen Yat Forever is our tip to win the 2011 Sky High Stakes

A fine field of 9 horses currently make up this year’s Sky High Stakes after the early scratching of #10 Base, with #9 Older Than Time the firming favourite at Luxbet.

After opening at a quote of $4.40, Gai Waterhouse’s four-year-old mare Older Than Time has quickly been backed into $4 to win Rosehill Race 8 on Saturday.

Drawn ideally on the rails with barrier one, Older Than Time is in red hot form having won all three of their starts this prep including their most recent victory over 1900m by three lengths at Canterbury on February 23.

However, the Sky High is their first black-type assignment and the field she must defeat on Saturday is much tougher than at her past starts.

That’s why the team are tipping an upset Sky High Stakes result and have #1 Luen Yat Forever rated special to win.

  • Favourite: #1 Luen Yat Forever – Rated Special to Win – Bet now at Luxbet
  • Best Place / Exotic Bets: #7 Syreon, #9 Older Than Time and #8 Lamasery

Former Macau Horse of the Year, Luen Yat Forever is currently at a quote of $6 in the Sky High Stakes odds at Luxbet having shortened in from $7.50 since markets were released.

Drawn ideally in barrier three, we think this is the race Honours List gelding Luen Yat Forever can finally score his maiden Aussie win in.

The five-year-old was not disgraced during his spring campaign in Melbourne, his best run being a game fourth beaten less than half a length by Wall Street in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) in November.

This may be his first run at Rosehill, but stepping right back in class after having contested the Group 1 CF Orr and the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes at his two most recent runs will work in Luen Yat Forever’s favour tomorrow.

To run second to Luen Yat Forever we fancy #7 Syreon to just nudge out the favourite Older Than Time.

Chris Waller’s Flying Spur seven-year-old Syreon is coming off a win at Warwick Farm last Saturday and although stepping up to 1900m for the first time has consistently finished in the money when on a seven to eight day turn around.

Best value to add into your Sky High Stakes exotics like the Box Trifecta or First Four at Luxbet is Lamasery.

Commands four-year-old Lamasery is out for their fifth win on the trot and has also won their past three over 1800m and past two here at Rosehill.

However, it is a steep rise in class for them on Saturday and that combined with the likely unsuitable pace pushes them out of contention for the win unfortunately.
